There are around 4.5 million householders are now facing the misery of fuel poverty - the recent increase in this number is due mainly to the rise in energy prices and energy inefficient homes.
In response to these challenges and its own commitment to helping the environment, National Grid has established a new independent Community Interest Company (CIC), Affordable Warmth Solutions CIC.
Working in Partnership with leading energy suppliers and other key strategic partners, National Grid Affordable Warmth Solutions are targeting ‘non-gas’ homes and communities, situated in the top 25% most deprived areas in England.
National Grid Affordable Warmth Solutions are offering qualifying householders free or discounted gas connections together with new or improved central heating systems; cavity wall and loft insulation; that are helping to reduce householder’s energy consumption and at the same time having a positive effect on the environment.
What is the Qualifying Criteria?
- Live in one of the top 25% most deprived areas in England; Or
- Eligible for support under the Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO); Or
- In Fuel Poverty based on the Low Income High Cost indicator.
