Qualifying Criteria Explained

There are around 4.5 million householders facing the misery of fuel poverty – the recent increase in this number is due mainly to the rise in energy prices and energy inefficient homes.

Through our relationship with Cadent we work in partnership with leading energy suppliers and other key strategic organisations, Affordable Warmth Solutions are targeting some of the most vulnerable ‘non-gas’ homes and communities across Cadent’s gas distribution network areas.

We offer qualifying householders free or heavily discounted gas connections and through our partners  new or improved central heating systems; cavity wall and loft insulation; that helps to reduce householder’s energy consumption and at the same time having a positive effect on the environment.

What is the Qualifying Criteria?

If you live in a privately owned or rented property there are two ways of qualifying for a gas connection voucher:

  • You live in a privately owned or rented property and you receive key qualifying benefits
  • You are a social tenant, or live in a privately owned or rented property and are spending a high percentage of disposable income on household fuel with a registered EPC rating of D or below.

Typical examples of health conditions made worse by living in a cold home include chronic respiratory condition, cardiovascular condition, musculoskeletal illness or mental health condition.
